It's been a while since I posted some pics of my BN6... I just happened to have taken a few 'freshies' the other day...

I gotta say, I've played a number of 'boutique' basses since I bought my Fbass (20 months ago), and IMHO... NOTHING seems to come close in playability, tone and craftsmanship. Truly unbelievable instruments in every respect. If I EVER convince my wife that I need another bass... you betcher butt it'll be an Fbass.

This is my favorite BN6, or my favorite fretted 6 string bass of all time I think.

How do you light it like that? it's perfect.

I haven't tried lowriders yet, just highbeams, fatbeams and the tapered DRs. Hated the tapered Dr strings on the F. Not really crazy about the fatbeams either- way too pronounced harmonics. So much that the fundamental was buried, especially on the B string. Maybe I'll try lowriders for my next set.

Al

PS: Love the oiled or satin finish on that BN6.

Guys. The lowriders are perfect for lack of better description. I have not found anything that bothers me about them. And I am very observant with my personal axes. I just don't go into those long detailed post

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!

I have decided to sell my FBass in 6 months............

For another Fbass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am very happy to announce that Mr. Bankhead over at fretspot.com is currently working with George as we speak in order to get my bass started ASAP!!!!
Before I go into specs, I would like to talk about Donovan Bankhead. Donovan had noticed that I said I wanted the same bass as mine, but with an ebony fretboard. He sent me a PM saying he could make that happen. Now, I'm in the proccess of moving, I need a new car, I am inrolling in school to study jazz theory and I just quite my job. On top of that, I just got my Fbass like 2/3 weeks ago!!! However, when Donovan sent me that one tiny PM, it got the wheels turning. He has been the most helpful guy I have ever dealt with. I plan on opening a small shop myself in about 5-7 years and I must say, if I run my business anything like him........ I'll be doing just fine. He is honest, fair, and he has GAS!!!!!! He is not as salesman...... He is a gear nut. If you go to his website and read how he became a dealer you will see that he's just a gear nut like us!!!!!

I'm sure that you guys are like me, you love your bass, but it's cooler knowing that it was built for you. And if you had the chance to get a GREAT trade-in on your current F, then order a new one with slightly different specs...... You would jump on it!!!!!

He gives you good money on your trade-in. It's just part of his self made policy. It's really genius. He also sells the F at the lowest price allowed from George.

Long story short, he is the man. I will be back to do business with him again.

On with the specs ( hey D, let me know if I forgot anything)

BN5
11 pounds is what I'm shooting for.
Natural with Black enhanced grain (I want a nice straight grain that's busy )
Crystal finish (new harder finish)
Matching Ramp (the pickups and ramp will be one-piece in apperance)
All black hardware
Reccessed straplocks
Hipshot A stlye bridge
Colorful maccasscar ebony Fret Board
Smaller fret-wire ( about the size of lakland)

I think that's all. Sam bass as mine just tweaked a bit to make it perfect IMO.

Enjoy

That sounds like a great bass... my guess is it'll be closer to 9.5-10 lbs. (my BN6 is 10.4) which is a good thing right.

I think 9 or 10 pounds is the perfect weight for a bass (IMO). I have one that is 12 or 13
and it feels like I have a small child wrapped around my neck. No good. I also have one
that is 8ish pounds and it feels cheap.

I want to feel something stable under my arm when I hit it but not something that is as
heavy as your sister that eats her problems away.

Sounds great...

One thing I love about F bass is that George's 6'ers stay just as punchy and well defined as his 5'ers, which you can't say about all luthiers and the difference between their 5's and 6's.

Maarten, really great tune on the YouTube clip. I thoroughly enjoy all the member's playing. Yes that BN6 sounded great, of course. I will need to check out your other clips.
