The bass sounded great. I played thru a Hughes & Kettner rig ( backline ) and it was cool
I still have to sell it unfortunately- I am hoping to be able to pick up a used BN5 and pay some bills with the left over $... |

At any rate, my BN4 is 34" scale. I'll have to measure the width at the nut, though. |
Hi Tom,
I've owned 3 BN4's 2 were "regular stock", and the other was custom built for Richard Bona.
The 2 stock were 34.5" scale, and 1.6" @ nut.
The custom (Ambrosia top) had a 34" Scale and 1.6" @ nut.
I think George's Standard length is 34.5 on all his basses.
Seems like the options would be never ending...Maybe that's why George only makes tham as a special order now.
If the custom had a 1.5" nut..I might have kept it.
Rob

Personally, I really like the shape on the BN4. More so than on the 5s and 6s. But, that's me.

1 - The F-Bass site just got revamped (cool)!!! http://fbass.com/index.html
2 - Just got my BN4. In addition to it having the birdseye board option, strangely enough, she has 24 frets!!!!!! I've only ever seen BN4's with 21 or 22 frets. I didn't know that this was even an option. Knowing what George charges for upgrades and options (which is almost criminal, but hey, he gets what he asks), I'm sure it was a small fortune to have this done. She's also 34" scale (verses the normal 34.5" scale) which is an option I believe...
Edit: after looking at the F-Bass price list ( http://fbass.com/html/pricelist.html )the 24 fret option is $1200... Crazy! The 34" scale option is another $1100 and the birdseye board is $350. Total MSRP price on this baby is $6849! Ouch!
Many thanks to Ben (CTBass&BirdSong) who sold this to me!

Yes. Crazy, ain't it???? Somebody is paying this kind of money for those options though. Go look and see what he charges for different top wood options. $1500 - $3200ish...
