The answer is yes as a special order and will cost you a few bucks.
Ont the bright side, I see that a BN4 is no longer more expensive than a BN5! Special order but the price is the same.

Seriously, GREAT looking bass!
Come to think of it, doesn't Phillip Jordan have a bass similar to this on order with Donovan and George?

That bass is sick. It sounds so good. It seems, that what ever you do with it... how ever you set the amp.. it will still sound good. F bass pre amp is very good.
the shape of the body... is still a bit werid... but it's just so easy to play... etc...
i'm just amazed...
cheers |

Once you get that far away from the bridge, that little bit of distance has very little impact IME. And, the little bit of difference there might be is not a 'better or worse' situation, but a subtle difference at most.
I would never eliminate a 24 fret instrument for this reason, even if slapping was a large part of my playing style. The only issue I've found is there isn't enough room between the neck pickup and the end of the board on some bass designs. Even this is relatively rare. | George actually had the Studio model that had 20 frets vs. the BN5's 22, so he must have heard some difference to justify it, if only for awhile. It seems that over the years he has made, and understands, incremental changes to his design. |

I did feel a difference in the feel of the string when slapping in my sweet spot- less or no board underneath- but also heard a difference overall in the frequency response . The extra 2 frets did change the tonality pretty consistantly, not better or worse , just different IMO. They did not sound like different basses at all, but different versions of the same platform- like they were. Again, it was pretty consistant too when I A/B'd them. There were also slight cosmetic differences . The model was discontinued because there were so many more orders for the BN5 and I guess it was easier to make the one model.
Its not easy to extrapolate if there would or would not be any difference between a 20 and 22 fret FBass based on what happened with other brands and basses....the only real way to know is to have played them, and even then its just one guy's opinion |

In one way, I like the leverage of resting my palm on it, but I never realized how much I mute the B string especially with the heel of my hand while slapping, which I cannot do at all with that plate in the way. I'll probably take it off next week so it can be shiny for years to come.
