He must have played it all afternoon...I guess. | Flats!? Interesting, wouldn't have guessed that. I've never tried flats on an F (or anything else besides upright in the last 25 years). |

I guess I'll have to settle for being the first to have a Lake Placid Blue with an Alaska shaped scratch plate!
BTW Paul, you are VERY bad for those fighting GAS addictions!

George's representation of the violin finish is just beautiful. Oddly enough the color matches very close to my Englehardt M1.
My AC was pre-owned.
Thank you for the compliments but they all should go to George and F Bass for conceiving such an incredible bass.

I'm confused on the controls next to the strings. The first one on the neck side, is a master volume control? I've found that the middle knob, when pulled up turns on the piezo and that rolling it back and forth blends the mag pickup and the piezo. My question is what the middle knob is suppose to do when it's in the down position?
Oh and I know that the control furthest away from the neck is to turn off the active EQ and serve as a passive volume. And of course I'm quite familiar with the lower three controls.

Oh and I know that the control furthest away from the neck is to turn off the active EQ and serve as a passive volume. And of course I'm quite familiar with the lower three controls. | Below is a photo of my Fbass AC6 with numbers on the controls just to facilitate discussion:
1 - Tone (VTC) (rolls back treble)
Pushed down = preamp on: bass, mid and treble boost controls on bottom row work
Pulled up = preamp off (passive mode): bass, mid and treble boost controls disengaged
2 - Volume for piezo
Pushed down = piezo off (so turning knob does nothing)
Pulled up = piezo on (so turning knob controls piezo volume)
3 - Volume for magnetic pickup
Pushed down = single coil
Pulled up = hum canceling
4 - Boost highs
5 - Boost mids
6 - Boost lows
The controls make the most sense when you think of a vintage Fender Jazz bass: volume - volume - tone.
With the AC6, it is volume (magnetic pickup), volume (piezo pickup) and tone.
Piezo pick ups tend to sound very brittle, so I keep its volume at about 60 percent, and pull it up when I want that Alain Caron edge to my sound, and down when I want to be more Jaco in tone.
When I want a sound closer to that of an acoustic upright in tone, I roll the magnetic pickup completely off and the piezo pickup completely up, roll the VTC back all the way or close to it, and then use the bass, mid, treble controls to bring me the rest of the way. Of course, my right hand also moves over the fingerboard to help the tone sound more uprighty.
