I think that is the case. My neck PU knob is stiffer than the bridge push/pull knob also. I have wondered about it too, but I guess I have just gotten used to it. Obviously not a "deal breaker" for me though. Love my BN5! <3 <3 <3

I'm not sure what it could be. I know that all my knobs feel the same though.

BTW I got my first nick in my bass. Something accidentally fell on it. I was able to steam
out the dent but there was some other tiny damage to the soft part of the grain. I sanded
it and now I'm using some wipe on poly stuff the George suggested. It's working well.
There's only a small flat spot now. I'll post some before and after pix when it's done.

The single volume pots were a different manufacturer than the push-pull pots, so the action was a bit stiffer. I have since gone to similar feeling pots.

Hi Jake,

The three switches are:

1: Piezo on/off
2: Preamp on/off (active/passive)
3: Master on/off

I really like the master on/off switch on my Fodera, so I asked George to fit one on my AC5. I'll get one put on my fiesta red VF5 too.

Lemme guess: one controls the rotation of the earth, one controls tsunami paths in SE Asia, and the third one is a remote control for Air force one?

DR Sunbeams on an AC? Mmmm, that's brave, especially if you've never tried it.

Are you going for the standard AC bridge or a metal one? Standard AC bridges aren't the easiest to adjust if you change your mind...

I went with a satin finish, 34" scale, and I'm having it strung with full core DR Sunbeams which is something I've never tired on an AC. Yes the top has some flame but not as much as yours. If you imagine where the bridge, pickup and neck will be the grain kind of flows with the whole thing. It's almost got a built in "burst" with the way the color changes. I will definitely keep you all posted on the progress.

I'm going with the standard bridge understanding that it is not easy to adjust. The nickle strings may very well generate a great response from the peizo due to the material and mass. We'll have to see.

So you ordered the fiesta eh? Good call, that's going to be killer!

Wow, what a GREAT idea. I wish I would have thought of that; I like the standby switch on my Fodera too.

You hate it and want to immediately sell it for a moderate loss?

Unfortunately, my weekend is pretty slammed, but I brought my BN4 and BN5 with me when I came back to the office after lunch, and I hope to play through them all at least briefly before I head home tonight (and off to a Cub Scout sleep over).

I did play it for a bit, unamplified, and let me tell you, this thing plays like a dream! It was still perfectly in tune, too.

Tom.

Yeah, and folks, Tom's already been PM'ing me about the bass... I expect it'll be in the forsale forum soon. He's pretty disappointed with it.

Okay, I am in a rush, so I didn't have time to take a better photo (or crop it), but here's the proof!

The detailed A/B will follow, but so far, the comments about the VF5 being more aggressive and a tad more bright than the BN5, with the BN5 being a bit more smooth, are all on point.

Oh my! I'll probably toss and turn all night after seeing that pic! What a sweet looking pair!

BN-6 Sound Clips and comfort

I am considering several trade offers for BN-6s FS: Ken Smith BSR6EG Six String Elite Quilted Maple / Walnut Excellent
Does anyone here have a sound clip of a BN-6 they can share? I know on the BN-6 the pickups are in a different location then on my BN-5. I am curious how the BN-6 sounds in the upper registers, especially. Also can anyone comment on the comfort of the bass for a guy with small hands?

Thanks alot for any help.
