The problem with ACs is... they always lighten your wallet pretty significantly... even used...

Had it's first gig this past Saturday and it did not dissappoint. More importantly, I love it and so does the rest of the band! Tom7, here's a couple of pics I promised ya. The Mark II paired w/AE112 Berg sounds pretty good but when stacked with my other AE112...WOW!

I just noticed that Tombowlus doesn't have his new VF5 next to his name yet.
Here's a picture of it if you want to make it a link: Club F-Bass (Part III)

I actually had the Natural BN6 with the Ebony Macassar FB now owned by WovenGraphite...miss it already. Maybe it's just me but I personally find the BN6 a lil too big, especially strapped on (balance is good just actual size). For some reason Roscoe SKB3006 feel more comfortable to me even with the 35" scale lenght as oppose to the obvious 34.5" of the F's...weird. Anyone else experience this? Quote:

--- Edit: for some reason talkbass.com keeps dropping the links, so I'm going to post the roster update in another (fresh) post and see if it keeps them. Meanwhile...

The setup (string height) is now all wrong on the BN6 since this new set has the exposed core.
The F Bass site mentions the following heights: Our standard string heights at the 22nd fret, measured from the top of the fret to the top of the string are "B" 6.5mm, "E" 6mm, "A" 5mm, "D" 4.5mm, "G" 4mm, "C" 3.5mm. This is *very* high (I know millimeter, not inches), do you guys know if this is with exposed cores?
I took 2mm off each string and it's ok... | Make sure your neck is as straight as possible, with about a half a millimeter relief. This makes a HUGE difference in height "feel" and stiffness.

Neck relief is indeed around 1.5 to 2mm... I'll follow your instruction on the FAQ to make it straighter. Thanks!

If so how did they sound and feel on it?
Was there any problem with the naked core on the bridge?

The preamp isn't too good on that bass so could be that to start with.

I could probably lower it slightly, but I consider it to be medium action; good full tone, no fret buzz. I strike pretty hard as well. Relief is maybe 0.5 mm at the 12 fret (holding the string down at the first and last fret). Action height is such a function of the player, though. Set it where you like it and don't worry about what George or anyone else says (all due respect).
I played a gig a couple weeks ago where the instruments were supplied by the venue. The guy before me played an old P-bass, and I thought it sounded great, so I grabbed it from him on his way off the stage. Turned out the action was so low it sounded like a fart when I played it...sounded horrible.

+1
I have set up my bass to the suggested specs on the fbass website... but because I hit pretty hard, my bass sounds much better with higher action to suit my playing style.
I've got mine set up somewhere between 1-2mm higher across all the strings, and she plays and sounds superb.
Setting up your bass to reflect what feels and sounds best to you is important. IMO
Pat.
