Sorry for the pic, I'll get a better one sometime. | This Club Roster update comes courtesy of ThumbyAche (clever user name by the way). ThumbyAche's 2 Fbasses are models I had not heard of until today, and I have a LOT of questions about them.
A NYC BN5 by Jimmy Coppolo?! Does that mean that Jimmy used to build Fbasses for George in New York?

This roster update welcomes bardlute and (yes Donovan, you are right), his "Ooooo, perty!!!" AC5. Great looking bass.
By the way, Donovan shipped my VF5 in a case that perfectly fits my AC6. The AC6 has a shape and length that has made it hard for me to find a hard shell case for, so I am very glad to have this one. It looks like bardlute has the same hardshell case.
Welcome aboard, guys!

The Gator case is a great one. I think it's 'the standard' case provided by FBass if you don't like the gig bag. |

I think the NYC model was simply all black with chrome hardware.(?) |

I think the NYC model was simply all black with chrome hardware.(?) | Actually, Jimmy was a dealer for F-bass and the NYC model came in several colors and made to his specs with a one piece maple neck (instead of 3 piece), smaller fretwire, and also what started the 2x3 headstock design. That is how I remember it. The GFC is one of only 3 that I have ever seen including a Natural finish GFC that Jimmy also had at the time I bought my BN5 NYC from him. The other is a purple one that I have seen here on TB. I know there may have been a few more but I have only ever seen 3 of them...of course mine is the prettiest..

If i wanna change to a strap lock kind, what's your recommendation? | The standard ones are Gotoh, EP-B3.
Or you can use any large (oversized) buttons:
from Allparts, Part# AP 0684-010 http://www.allparts.com/store/hardwa...10,Product.asp
You can get the felts from Allparts as well.
Strap locks are Dunlop. I usually use the "two way" system, that can be used as regular strap buttons or click in the locking button portion.

Glue a wooden dowel in the original screw hole then re-drill the hole carefully where you want it. Make sure the dowel is not too much bigger in diameter than the hole or you will split the horn. It should fit snugly.
Allow the wood glue to dry 24 hours.
If you don't feel comfortable doing this, take it to a reliable repair person.

The exposed core of the strings on your bass go much closer to the pickup than on my bass. In fact, on my bass, the cores just cover the saddles, which I like VERY much.
I wonder if it is a string anomaly, if it is the result of our different bridges, or if Donovan did some fancy schmancy voodoo 'cause he remember those exposed cores cause me real problems when they are too close to the pickups.
The Badass is a much longer bridge, so that the windings are closer to the front of the saddles, than on other bridges

I built BN5's with certain specifications that Jimmy requested, for his New York Guitar and Bass Boutique, when he was an F Bass Dealer.
Slab necks, small frets, heavy ash bodies, usually Fender custom colours, Hipshot heads, 2 + 3 tuner configuration, reverse headstocks.
