And yes, you are absolutely right, George has every right to keep his secrets. I was fortunate enough that he has been so gracious through this whole process with me. That he didn't take it the wrong way that I was unhappy. Because for all intents and purposes the finish was done perfectly... It was the wood, which is the uncontrollable factor most of the time... And my being picky.
I mentioned before that I should've ordered the bass natural from the get go, which was my plan had I gone for a dark fingerboard. But testing at NAMM told me that, at least for this bass, Maple was the way to go. So I ordered the enhanced grain to create contrast with the look and also, speaking of secrets, I felt the enhanced grain was a signature F bass thing... Maybe I'll try again on the next one. Quote:

But aesthetics matter to me as well -- a lot. For example, there were less expensive AC6 Signatures that probably sound just as good as mine, but I just had to have THIS one because of its looks.
Thank you, Santa! | I hear ya... I went more basic this time around just so I can have an F bass and I knew the basic options would give me the tone and the simple look I wanted... But for the next one, which I already have a few configurations in mind, I think I will go for it all. I will wait as long as needed to make it happen. With that said, it still won't be anywhere close to that beautiful AC6 of yours. |

Yes, it will have flamed maple fingerboard and five piece custom shaped neck with bubinga stringers. Although ebony has its place for certain sounds, maple is the material that helps me sound like 'me'
There were certain qualities I was yearning for and George's newer instruments, with the new pickup design and other slight changes, seemed to be able to provide that. I'll probably retire my current BN6 it the new one works out.

I fantasize about a natural ash BN4 with a 5-piece flamed maple/wenge neck with a matching ash headstock and heel. Too bad I can only fantasize about having that kind of dough right now. |

| Makes sense. And I love this look -- the flamed maple and natural with enhanced grain is how my BN5 was done.
