Guys I'm back in after a 3 year hiatus with a bn5 with an ebony board I just picked up here (pics on the way). My old one had a maple board, but I always lusted for one with ebony. What are your guys thoughts on the tonal differences between ebony and maple on an fbass. Thanks in advance.

My apologies for not responding sooner. My web host migrated me to a "better" server, and they haven't got it working yet. I keep the club roster on this webserver, so I'm stuck until they get it together. I keep thinking they'll have it done soon, so I've been waiting, but they've been stringing me along long enough that I have to give an explanation. Sorry again.

Yeah, nothing special...just the usual fantastic playing, clear explainations, great basses. You know, that kind of stuff.

That was the first time I've seen him as a clinician and he is well worth seeing. Lots of discussion on how and why you need to get deep into using the modes correctly and technique. All of it clear, with examples and a really dry sense of humor. There were some amazing fretless basses to check out and lots of bass players there.

Sorry, but Bluehost is still down and it is killing me. If it ever comes back, I'll get you taken care of.

+1. I wish everyone would check out his 3 albums; all of them are really top notch -- not just the bass playing but everything.

Here are some more NAMM shots:

I was pleasantly surprised by the number of 4-stringers they had in the booth. Phenomenal basses, all.

And that cab sounded pretty darned good, too!

That fretted AC5... does anyone know more about it?

What is that black mark on the B-string side of the bass?

What kind of bridge is that? That switch... anyone know more about this bass?
