But I keep eyeing my immediate future to see if I can shoehorn another Sadowsky into the box somehow. |

| | | Great video by Bob Taylor. Thanks for the lesson Roger.
I, for one, LOVE stripy woods and heavy grains and a well-striped piece of ebony on a fingerboard is beautiful to me.
It will make each guitar more unique and there'll be some slabs that will be breathtaking and one-of-a-kind.
I feel the same about rosewood boards. The stripier the better.

EDIT: I see that R posted the vid. |

| | | | I think a Master Grade Ebony should have more mottling and stripes. It's actually a good idea but needs to be opposite of what everyone thinks ebony should be. |

My ole 1980/1981 G&L's fretli had really neat looking ebony.

Both are appropriate for pure black Ebony. However, it should be understood, as made very clear by the video, a book Taylor distributes, and anyone in the industry at this point, it does NOT indicate a quality or performance difference.
For example, the more rare and more highly figured Master Grade tops don't indicate a top that would "perform" better. It's purely a rarity and aesthetic thing... just like the Ebony topic.
It's just a happy irony that "figured" Ebony is the less expensive/more readily available option, kinda' along the lines of what jmeyers44 was saying.

There is a great video on YouTube of Bob Taylor discussing the ebony situation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anCGvfsBoFY
I encourage all of you to watch it.
