If the battery switch was located in the preamp on/off switch, it would make a very loud pop when you turn the preamp on or off.

Roger started chamfering his basses because he was noticing that the weight for bodies with the sonic characteristics he wanted was climbing up, so you could read that as older basses having better quality wood due to the fact that all the good wood hasn't already been used.
I like the new features in recent basses, but there are a lot of guys who like 'em old school as well. Some say that the graphite bars in the neck have a negative effect on the tone, but I don't notice it on mine.
Just to show you that opinions are like-- Uh, well, you know... |

And uh... Just goes to show you how much I know about wiring :-/ |

The graphite reduces dead spot likelihood but there are basses with no graphite and no dead spots, and basses with graphite and dead spots. Old NYC, new NYC, Tokyo, Metro, they are all equally likely to be the one for any given person, it just depends on the personality of each bass.
Only thing I don't like on a metro is the licensed tuners on the 5s vs USA hipshots.
There are of course lots of specs you can get on an NYC you can't on a metro, such as ash/rosewood and 1 3/4 nut on a 5. Gosh, that sounds a lot like the bass I just Jedi Mind Tricked mich into selling me |

I did a mass gear analysis over the break buying basses and a new thunderfunk head with the goal of having a good fit old school rig and a great modern rig by the end. Problem is all the candidates were gold metalists for sure!
My wife is having a baby next week so my last endeavor in bass gear gluttony for a while! Had to act fast.

Includes control plate and knobs. There is also enough wire length between pots to accommodate 4 in line rear mount as well as diamond patterns too.
Installation requires moving the jack to the side and installing a 9V battery holder. | Hey Roger!
Not to pester you, but I just bought an older Fender J Deluxe specifically to slap one of these units into. Any rough idea at your end on timing?
Thanks! You and your staff ROCK!

And uh... Just goes to show you how much I know about wiring :-/ | That still wouldn't get rid of the pop. It'd actually have to be more complicated than that.
Thing is, it's not really necessary. Batteries last for hundreds of hours, so while I definitely wouldn't leave a bass plugged in at home, I don't think it's necessary to unplug between sets, given a typical local gig set schedule (10-20m breaks). |

I case my bass, I don't like stands. Too much possibility for ugly.

| | All bass, no talent! Me endorsed? | | Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada | | Funny.... Just saw the bassist from Hedley playing a white Sadowsky at Toronto's big New Years Eve TV bash. First time I think he has ever played out with a non-Gibson since they were signed.
Hedley is kinda Canada's Blink 182 and big with the teenie bopper girls. Actually really popular. They are playing in front of 60,000 tonight, but they sell out 3500-5000 seat venues typically.
What's funny is that I have met Tommy (the bassist) a few times over the last 5 years or so as my kids are huge fans and I have repeatedly told him he HAS to try a Sadowsky. He told me he had such a sweet deal with Gibson thy he was doubtful if he would be playing anything else in public for a long time.
Not like I have Geddy Lee playing Sadowskys (working on it! ) but I thought it was funny as hell that one bassist (me, a weekend warrior) could talk a fairly popular one into playing a new brand (or I like to think so!).
Happy New Year all!
