Here's the silver one. Can't wait to see the Candy Orange bass.
This one has an ebony fingerboard and MOP blocks:
The other one has a maple neck and black blocks:
Awesome. I'm stoked at how these are turning out. |

The temptation was there to do one in white and the other black, but I think that would have taken it a bit too far. I really dig Chris' body shapes with a solid finish. I think it accentuates the curves of these designs. Now I just have to find a way to stay patient waiting for them to be done. Quote:

Chris is really hitting the nail on the head for me with these and I think they'll look sick with the pickups and hardware on. Given that I know how well they play from my previous Stammies, my only real question is how the single coil Aeros (on the silver one) and the quad coil, dual jazz Delanos (on the orange one) sound. My guess is fantastic. |

| | | | Compare Dec 2011 fretless bass to the 7-string tremolo/midi bass.
GAS pains for both!
I know of no-other luthier taking the risks and pushing the envelope. Form and function.
Stambaugh is the best! My Octave coursed 8-string needs a sibling.
Always wanted a 6 string bass with either midi onboard (no outbooard coverter) or a stomp array like OD + Envelope. |

I just got off the phone with Chris, my bass is literally almost done, it just needs to have the pickups installed and the electronics wired. Now I just need to somehow scrape the cash for the third pickup that never got factored in to the quote. Chris wasn't sure there would be space for it until it was actually routed. According to him, it should ship out sometime around Monday, so hopefully I get it before Thanksgiving! Pics will be up as soon as I get them : D

Can't wait to see your new Stambaughs. James did you ever post a progress pic of yours? And three pickups? What kind of electronics package did you opt for? |

As per my electronics: Quote: Chris Stambaugh
The piezo buffer is a seperate unit that takes the signal from the magnetic pickups and equalizes the impedance with the piezo signal before they both head to the EQ preamp. The buffer will be a Bartolini unit, the normal EQ preamp for the Aeros will be the Aguilar OPB-3
| To elaborate, the two humbuckers that span all eleven strings will go through the aggie along with the piezos, and then there's also going to be a separate pickup between those two that covers the top six (D-Eb) strings and runs passive to a separate output with only a volume and tone control.
The one other thing that's changed is the hardware. The company that makes the piezo bridge systems dropped gold as an option (piezo is pretty rare as it is, let alone gold piezo. It just wasn't marketable) so the hardware is now black instead. |

Is that an inlaid claro walnut "pickguard" on flamed maple?
My old fretted Stammie was actually the reverse - Walnut top with a maple "pickguard". In hindsight I wish I'd opted for the clear, poly finish rather than tung oil. It really pops.
Looks like we'll have some completed Stammies soon. |

I like tung oil, but not having to refinish so often since I have a "few" too many guitars in the collection. I also tend to think polyester is a tad more weather stable in the midwest. |

11 lbs. She's a hefty heifer, but that's exactly what I wanted. My other two are a hair under 9 lbs. |

Here's the full shot off the website. Quite an interesting bass I must say.
