Dayum!!!!

Chris strikes me as the guy who just wants to build or brew. Given the affordable price and killer quality, I'm not too worried about pics.

I'm a little busy with recording at the moment to be messing with pics at the moment.

Just an FYI, apparently Chris has a new hand rubbed poly finish.

I initially thought there was a mix up and I got a oil finished neck. I tend to avoid oil finished bodies and necks since it takes a little time to lightly sand and oil them when it needs to be done while poly finishes can be polished and waxed pretty quickly.

IMO, this finish feels like oil, has more protection, and cleans up much easier. Win win.

Love that topwood.

Is that a neck through with a Fodera-style "tone block" or a 3 piece body with a set neck?

Edit: Nevermind, I can see the neck stringers through the pickup routes. Very cool.

Chris was saying he had enough wood for a second fretboard I was looking at getting the other piece on my bass but it just didn't suit the red of my Amboyna. Certainly looks great on your bass.

Really nice spec. I definitely want to see (and possibly hear it) it when it's done.

Very interesting.

I'd like to consider spec'ing something out soon, but haven't the slightest idea of what. For now, I'm happy to enjoy my Twangercaster.

Wow, that's a great spec. Chambered upper horn, eh? That shouldn't make much of a tonal difference, right?

Your bass is almost exactly what I had for a spec for my next one, I'd just go 34" scale and walnut body / alder tone block / redwood top / ebony fingerboard instead.

It's mostly for weight. But the extra wood on the single cut, strings though the body, and chambering makes a difference according to George @ F-Bass.
The fact that the neck is supported by the single cut body keeps the neck straighter, and lets the neck share the vibration with the body which adds to the overall tone. And since that part is chambered the idea is that it should make a difference.
My wood choice though was in contrast to the walnut bodied ebony board Fodera I had. I felt it was very bright and I wanted more balance. So I chose woods that were neutral or would be in contrast to each other. Ash & wenge vs kingwood. mahogany vs walnut. Brass nut and bridge vs nickel strings. And neutral nordstrand pickups with a diverse mike pope preamp.

I almost forgot and had been slacking. When I do something, I tend to go full bore.
