This thing is so easy to play that it's completely making me rethink my playing technique. I'm able to play with so much less tension and exertion... one step closer to becoming the human stick of butter we should all be in order to avoid injury and approach true physical freedom on an instrument.

All this plus the most versatile tones I've yet encountered. So tight, focused and clear, yet so singing and elegant. I can't get over it.

And the beauty! I literally wake up every morning and find myself overwhelmed by an urge to play, simply because of how attractive the instrument is. Then in the low glow of evening I am again compelled to play this glorious instrument as often as it deserves.

The "downside" to all this is that I went to NAMM this year after having my Stammie for a few days and was tragically underwhelmed by 90% of the instruments there. I literally played less than five brands that came even close to the Stambaugh's sound (and especially feel) and even then only two that I would consider adding to my stable. Many companies I came expecting to be impressed by left me disillusioned and confused...

Long story short: Love my Stammie.
Nice score. I recall that bass sounding amazing.

Every now and then, I'll boost the active treble and see if my left or right hand are making unwanted noise. Bad technique sounds really bad, so it forces me to work on those things. Then I return it back to normal and use the cleaner technique.

Managed to get a quick, sub-par demo recorded. Dang this bass sounds a lot better in person through an amp though. DI to the mixer was CRAP!

Sounds pretty darn good man. I'd love to hear something other than "fingerstyle" on it. Just some scale runs to get an idea of the timbral difference between strings. Arpeggios, generic bass licks etc. Obviously you don't have to oblige me, but I think many are curious to hear such things =)

Haha That will be the next one. Hopefully I can get a mic stand up and generally record a better one. More bass-type stuff is what I'm feeling. I'm just awful at playing good supporting bass lines with no one to support

Updated the TB Stambaugh gallery. I added spade's B-bender tele, James' monstrous ERB and AllFourth's walnut topped beauty.

If there are any Stammies that I'm missing that you want represented in the gallery just drop me a PM or post pictures in this thread for me to grab.

In other news, my silver fiver begins final assembly today according to Chris. And my orange fiver should be done at the finishers this week as well.

Yeah, it's a tough job for me: Wait until Stammie owners post pictures of their gorgeous instruments and then save & upload them.

The fun thing for me is that Chris is very obviously continuing to step up his game. Between that and the huge variety of projects he takes on it makes it a lot of fun to update the gallery.

That reminds me, I need to look through my emails for an entertaining build that Chris recently finished.

I can't think of any builders who can build such a wide array and do it so well. It'll be interesting to see what he does with future Builds of the Month.

I'm currently playing around with getting a fixed length guitar strap for the B-Bender. I know a place with some nice Eastern diamondback and I already have the inlay.

Let me know when you do and I'll swap (or just add) a new photo or two of your bass.

I gave him grief the other day about not finishing his updates. It's pretty amazing to see some of the crazy stuff he does.

Yeah, Chris seems like the natural choice for that kind of project. Exotic wood thunderbird with improved balance, tone and playability - should be awesome. And he's done a few in that vein already.

Exotic wood Bootsy style Space Bass:

Exotic wood Flying V:

Exotic wood Tele:

Exotic wood Jazz:

Exotic wood Ampeg Scroll:

So, back to the entertaining build I mentioned earlier. Chris was originally going to start my hollowbodies in late October or early November. But then he had a client who absolutely needed some instruments for a big showcase at the beginning of the year and Chris asked if it was okay to bump me back a month and I said sure.

The project was to build 3/4 size SGs for a dad whose twin sons are doing an AC/DC tribute band. Apparently the dad got nowhere trying to contact Gibson about the project and someone recommended Chris. Anyway, here are the guitars Chris built and below is a video of the brothers performing.

V Squared doing "Back in Black"

Oh, the indignity of being bumped back in the queue for a pair of 8 year olds. I told Chris he'd have to add some extra mojo to my basses to make up for it.

Interesting SGs. I'd venture to guess they weren't much more than the Gibsons. Naturally, he stomps the crap out of Gibson's quality and doesn't have the seemingly detachable Gibson headstocks.

To this day, I don't know how they've gotten away with selling such a fragile headstock on a set neck guitar.

Sadly, we don't do numbers. Welcome though! I do have to ask though, is yours the fretless with the Chechen facing and koi (did I spell that right?) inlay? Or did you just steal the pic to have a gnarly avatar?
