Cort Action Bass for Pro-Gigging purposes !

Sign in to disble this ad
good morning folks !

The other day i played a cort action bass in a store and was amazed at how light it was. Now i am a guy who does a lot of session gigs and carrying a heavy fender jazz from city to city thru airplanes and at venues on my back is simply tiring.

Not to mention that a light bass will make long gigs less tiring and make it easier to run around the stage.

The action bass of course can't really provide the tonal variation and smoothness of a J-bass however do you think it would suffice for a hard-rock band ?

i am wondering if with the action bass i will suffer any lack of signal issues or a tinny tone ?

do y'all think that actionbass through a sansamp PBDDI would suffice on a regular hard rock gig ?

thx for your replies... i am really tempte by this little piece of bass

It's an ok bass for the money, but certainly not a pro level instrument; if you want a light bass, but more quality, then you might wanna try an Ibby SR (especially 500 or 600). The Corts and Ibbys are comparable (the Cort neck is a tad thicker though). Or get an Srtisan series Cort (from B and up).

most basses if setup and cared for properly will be good enough to gig!
The real question is: Will the cort give you what the fender does?

In all seriousness you should consider a Sadowsky NYC. It will give you exactly what your after and I've seen them in the 7lb range at times. I doubt the cort is anywhere near that weight

I had one and liked it very much. The pickups were lacking but that could be easily sorted. It played great though, so IMO, yes if you replace the pickups and probably the machine heads it would do you alright.

If it plays and feel great the electronics are easily changeable.

Thanks for your replies guys.

Another reason the Cort looks attractive is coz of it's Cost price. I really wouldn;t want to do the stunts that i do / i'd Like to do on say a sadowsky

The reason i am not worried about the availability of the fender jazz tone is coz the main artist i gig with is pretty much the typical hard rock act which if anything needs 2 kinds of bass tones for the whole gig.

As long as i can pull off a decent sound at an acceptable signal level it should suffice. I mean i pretty much have horrible back/shoulder pains with the MIM fender jazz though i lvoe the bass to death and this pain just means that instead of hitting the clubs with sweet girls after the gig i am sitting in a hot bath tub nirsing my wounds

bad reason to give but well pain is pain and no gig is worth dying for right ?

If anyone had any experience with putting any eelctronics on the action bass feel free to throw in some names.

Hey thanks for all the replies kind bass brothers , more beer to all

I really have to question what you were thinking when you suggested a Sadowsky to someone who was currently looking at a Cort Action bass.

Thinking about his current love for jazz basses and of course Sadowskys.
