Hello, this is my first post.My question is, has anyone ever had any experience with the Cort b5 bass. I'm considering buying one because of the bartolini pickups and I want a 5 string. Any answers will be appreciated.

The pick ups in the B5 are the Korean-made MK1s...nothing to get excited about really, the bass itself it's an absolutely good instrument for the price tho.

First off I wouldnt necessarily go out and buy a bass for its pickups. Aside from that, I owned one for a while, and wish I never got rid of it. Awesome build quality, great feel, and sound...

That's right. The pickups are OK, but it's sort of like the relationship between MIK "Duncan Designed" guitar pickups and USA pickups.

HOWEVER, I had a Cort B4 fretless and it was a very nice, well balanced, slick-playing axe. When I put USA-made Bartolinis and preamp in, it became a very musical instrument. Bart-USA makes drop-in replacements for the Mk I MIK pickups.

I really like how the Cort Artisan B4 and B5 play and feel. It has a good bridge and Hipshot-licensed tuners as well.

The Corts I have played were VERY impressive--materials and build/setup quality were top-notch.
I would take a MIK Bart pickup over most others anyway, even if MIA Barts are better.
They still sound like Barts.
