cort curbow

I have been feeling the need to go fretless recently and the cort curbow seems like a cheap viable option to me. It's just not a brand i'm familiar with at all, if anyone has some experience with these instruments and would like to give me some feedback it would be appreciated.

Cort does not receive the attention it sorely deserves... When many manufacturers choose to outsource certain models overseas, they pretty much all go to the Cort factory. Their quality is actually very good.

I just got a Cort B4FL fretless - $300, excellent condition with new HSC and it's a stone cold playa!

I also have a Cort LP guitar that is hands down one of the guitars I won't sell - Cort is WAY above the rest of the options in their price range.

Be carefull with trussrod adjustments, they strip easily

The Curbow is very interesting. I have a Cort Artisan already, and I am very happy with it.

I do not actually need a Curbow, but even so I am looking for a used 5 string. Other bass players that have tried Curbows say they are light and small, but with great ergonomy and excellent balance.

I wish Cort would re-introduce a Curbow 6.

Awesome thanks for the feedback, does anyone have an opinion about the bartolini pickups that come stock?

I really enjoyed my Cort Curbow5. I had it for about 3 years. It played very fast, with no dropout tones, or over powered notes. If I could slap I'd've kept it. That said it will fit any kind of musical style you try.(I only sold it to a fender jazz.) Also,( and this could just be me) but I always felt like it didn't sustain quite like I wanted it to. All around though great bass for the money.

Bartolini makes some pretty fantastic pickups!

I had one of those - very nice for the money.

Had the bartolini's too.

I guess there was too much hate for the luthite body?

I owned a first generation 4-string for several years. Really enjoyed it. You need to use a strap all the time though - the body doesn't balance when sitting.

The Bartolini should be a Mk-I, which is like the Duncan Designed line: made offshore for import instruments. It sounds fine, but not quite like a USA model.

I liked the preamp in mine, though. Designed by Greg Curbow for this instrument. Here is some trivia: from what I remember, the two trimmer pots accessible through the holes in the control plate were not meant to be in the final design. The trimmers were for testing various settings and were supposed to be replaced in final production with fixed value resistors. When the design was approved, someone forgot to make the change in the specs, so the trimmer pots stayed in place.

Lastly, mine played very well with lightweight DR Lo-Rider nickel strings. I haven't used that string on any other instrument, but it was right for this instrument.

AT LEAST MINE SOUND WONDERFUL, BUT THERE IS SOMETHINGS I DONT LIKE, IF U HIT THIS BASS IT WILL CRACK LIKE A M&M AND AN UGLY MATERIAL THAT LOOKS LIKE FOAM INSIDE , IF IT FALL HITTING THE CONTROLS IT WILL GO DEEP AND LOSSE THE WHOLE THING . LOTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THE NECK THEY CRACK VERY EASY, THE SON UD IS FANTASTIC MINE GAVE A MICHEL MANRING TONE THAT I LOVE, SO GO FOR A BETTER CONSTRUCTED BASS
THIS IS HOW MINE SOUNDS https://soundcloud.com/alanalvarez-1/100wav
