Cort Curbow question

Sign in to disble this ad
So my question is basically, is this thing working right?

I just bought a used Cort Curbow 5-string off ebay with the Bartolini (not the Mighty Mite) electronics. This bass has a "slap switch" which rather drastically alters the tone.

The concern is that in one switch position the three-band tone controls work, but in the other position they don't to anything at all. Is it supposed to be this way? I've tried quite a few settings of the adjustment pots on the back, but nothing seems to bring the tone knobs into play in the one switch position.

Anybody?

Is it active or passive?

Edit: I bet the switch selects active/passive, and of course the 3-band EQ doesn't do anything in passive mode, as it's an active Eq.

the above post is not correct.

the slap switch is supposed to defeat the active EQ controls and basically "smiley-face" EQ the whole thing by cutting your mids and boosting treble and bass. it's supposed to be a convenient feature and let you switch from "slap" to your regular tone on the fly.

hopefully that makes sense. I have two Cort Curbows and they both behave this way. I never use the slap switch
