| DiMarzio ModelP (powerful but traditional) SplitP (howlin') and Seymour Duncan SPB2/3 All are wonderful passive pickups, but they do cost half of your brand new bass (which is surely better than a Squier Vintage Modified Precision, to name just one you probably thought about)
So I suggest you Tesla... take a look on their site, then look for nearest retailer who sells them.
I experienced Tesla Corona 4SF soapbars upgradin' Fleabasses and VRB3 split pickup on Squier Matt Freeman Precision basses
Another cheap pickup, more on the clear side of the spectum, is the EMGhz, but then, with an already clear soundin' agathis body, maybe the bass could sound too "in your face".
You know the sound in your head
Cheers,
Wallace
