If it sounds great and feels great and you can afford it. Get it?

Really nice bass, great build quality and lots of options for upgrades later. It's a solid choice for a mid-range instrument.

I picked up a GB-55 as a project bass a while ago. I bought it because sound-wise, it sat right between a beautiful older MM stingray and a late model Stingray 5, that were for sale in the same store.

Played back-to-back, the older 'Ray had it beat for tone, but it was listed at $2,500. I preferred it to the later model MM, at $1,350.

It had a little buzz when the Jazz pickup was solo'd, but a foil shielding job cleaned that up nicely. The tuners were merely adequate. The fretwork was good. The preamp sounded better than I would expect for a bass in that price bracket.

All in all, it was a great little bass that played far better than I would expect from that price bracket, and I was sad to see it go.
