Crackling and buzzing?!

Sign in to disble this ad
so i just got an ampeg b2r off of ebay and a 300 watt ampeg cab. i have a cheap squire p-bass.

as soon as i started playing it i noticed some crackling and alot of buzzing when i wasnt touching a metal part of the bass. when i twisted the tone and volume knobs on my bass it crackled. also if i tuned without touching the strings it crackled and it happens randomly when i play.

im pretty sure its not supposed to be like that xD so any help would be appreciated!

I have a cheap Squier P also. Two very short and small wires connect the guitar's electronics to the input jack. Their connection is very feeble, and that caused a lot of crackling and buzzing in mine. Taking it apart and soldering it back together may fix it, at least temporarily.

I had a lot of noise from the pickups and shielding the pickup and control cavities with copper foil tape made a big difference.
Good thread on this here;
