i'd pay $1200 for an alembic spoiler. great basses. the crack in the neck concerns me though. as long as it was professionaly repaired and isnt messed up in any other way.

I'd say it's worth a drive and a look if you have a yen for an Alembic. I live in Ft Collins and I know it's a quick trip.

alembics are exceptional instruments, but they are not for everyone. they have a very "honest" tone, as in if you have bad technique, it will show.

An "honest" tone can be helpful for spotting flaws in your technique, and correcting them. I hotrodded a Schecter guitar for a friend of mine, and he noticed that right away.
