Ok, not 1/10th as cool as this:

Craigslist Score! -- Kubicki Content

but.... I've always liked Steinies. Never felt like putting a grand into owning one, so I've had a hankering for the poor man's version, the Steingberger Licensed Cort knock off.

Casually perusing the local Craigslist recently and I saw one for $100, with original gig bag. Hmmm, these tend to be pretty beat up, but for $100, worth a look-see. Two hours of heinous traffic and five $20 dollar bills later and it's mine. Very good shape, with just enough wear to be comfortable, neck feels great, sound is very acceptable, solid even. 'Already put half as much as I paid for it into a new set of LaBella flats. God help me, I'll probably want to throw an expensive pair of pups into one day.

What really got me is just how fun this bass feels. I've been playing an FNA Jazzman 5 mostly of late, and it feels like a serious instrument. It feels good to play a 4 again and I dig this light, super portable, strange-ass looking thing. It puts a smile on my face, and that's what matters, eh?

Nice win! I want one of these or a Kramer Duke for a travel bass.

Wow. That is the EXACT model of bass that I learned to play on at the age of 16, 23 years ago. I'm having wicked flashbacks.

One of those in white was my very first bass. I believe I paid $299 for it back in '87.

Wonderful score there!

I've had the same thing in white since 1986. I still give it a whirl from time to time - such a fun little bass & travels better than most!

Nice score is right. I used to have one of those when I was young too. Actually after I got it, we started a Rush tribute (it was during Geddy's Steinberger days), hehe.

Have on in white, love it cause it stays in tune forever, and it can fit in my locker at work. Let us know how it sounds with the flats. Nice score. Enjoy.
