Hello,
I am considering ordering a custom singlecut medium (32" -33") scale 5 string bass. I really am leaning toward Cliff Bordwell, but I have seen some great Ramirez and Stambaugh basses as well. Does anyone have any advice on my selecting between the three? I would also welcome links to any other luthiers that I might consider. Thanks!!

Possibly the most cost effective too but I could definitely be wrong about that. The guy can and does build just about anything. I have a 24 fret jazz 5 on order from him. I had a Bordwell and it was a very well built but the lack of an armcut made it a little awkward to play while standing. Never played a Ramirez. |

| | | | i haven't not had a chance to play any of them, but, i can say i admire all three luthiers.
if i ever have the money and skills to justify a boutique instrument, my first will be a bordwell. he makes some absolutely gorgeous instruments. |

Will's attention to detail and craftsmanship is impeccable. I don't know about the other luthiers you mentioned, but you won't be disappointed with a Ramirez.

However, between the 3, I don't think you'll go wrong. I'm in the process of ordering another CB and another Stambaugh. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
