Custom Basses and Stuff

First of all, I play the bass. As we all know, basses aren't as popular as guitars, thus there usually isn't much of a selection anywhere you go. Anyway, I've never really been into the common basses either. After playing for a few years, I finally got myself a 6-string, something I've wanted for a long time. But anywhere I went, to about 5 stores that sold musical instruments, there weren't any 6ers. I eventually ordered an Ibanez SR506 from a guy on Ebay. Although everything turned out fine, I don't didn't really enjoy the experience.

It's been a few more years, and another something I've been wanting is a 10-string double-course EADGC acoustic-electric bass double neck with a 16-string double-course acoustic guitar on bottom... or something similar. Oh, and with the neck like my Ibanez SR506, I love that neck. I've looked at websites that make custom basses, but they are very limited in this sense.

Anyway, how do I get a hold of a bass like I mention? And if I hire someone to make it, how the hell am I going to know if it sounds any good, I mean, I don't know much about making basses. My budget is pretty up-in-the-air as I won't be getting one of these for about two more years, but I'd pay several thousand dollars, but only if I would absolutely love it.

You make a good point. I can't recall seeing an acoustic double-neck 26-string guitar at any Guitar Center I've visited.

Nah, I'm sure they just fly off the shelves!
