Custom Epiphone Thunderbird Project!!!!

Firstly, I'd like to thank lavmonga and MrBasseyPants (body and neck ,respectively) for making this project possible. Just some early pix of it coming along...

The headstock was broken off of the neck, but this turned out to be an easy repair. Just need to put a few small dowels in it to reinforce it, sand the area smooth, and repaint it with black laquer...

The body still has a ways to go but is shaping up nicely. It did have a crack in the body running through the control cavity and up the side of the middle plateau about 3 inches. Epoxied and doweled that. Also doweled where the previous owner had moved the input jack. Still in the process of sanding all that smooth, then going to refinish the body entirely in ReRanch Lake Placid Blue (same color shown on the front of the body).

Haven't done the rout yet, but will be installing an 18v battery box in the middle of the back of the bass, between where the two pickup cavities are located.

This will give you a general idea of the appearance of this bass once I'm finished. Chrome Schaller bridge, Gotoh tuners (not shown), pickup rings, football jackplate, and control knobs, all from Allparts.

Will post more pix as I progress. I'm only working on this maybe an hour or so every other day so it may take awhile.
