Custom Neck Options?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys and gals.

I have a 30 old Mako TPB-2 bass that has great sentimental and nostalic value to me.

I would like to find some one who could make me a new custom neck, to my specifications; to fit the body of the Mako. I know what I want and it will require some one who has the capabilities and patience to make it this way.

Is there anyone or a company in the USA who is capable and willing do this?

I know it will cost more than it's worth. But it's not about re-sale value or anything else. This was my first bass when I was 15...16 years old. I had my bass tech redo the electronics and other things and I played a lot of years with my old Mako until it was destroyed in a flood.

So I found this one on ebay and I want to work it up and have the kind of neck that suits me best. It is a sentimental thing.

Thanks.

Rickett Customs, he is here on TB. Currently he is working on a neck for me. Im not sure how backed up he is but you may want to contact him.

Michael Dolan did essentially what you are describing for me: built a totally custom neck to fit an existing bass.

Not familiar with that particular bass, but may be worth a shot and calling up Warmoth and seeing if they have something for you.

Warmoth probably can't help you. They're too caught up in their own designs.

USA custom guitars, OTOH, has done custom necks for me. Great all the way around. The fanned fret guitar neck they did for me some years ago is my main gigging neck when I have a guitar gig instead of a bass gig.

+1 on USA custom guitars. Tommy and crew are a class act.
