Exclamation Custom Paintwork!

Sign in to disble this ad
So for my basses I love to strip em down and customize them myself, I've got to have a one of a kind piece. I use automotive paint because it is very accesible and doesn't rob any tone that I can tell. However, here's the question for you all: Does anyone know of a good clear coat or laquer to get to finish it? I've tried numerous types and they all seem to be too hard and chip off with LITTLE wear, tear, & buckle rash. So if anyone has any advice on something thats really good and easy to use please post.

A Clear Answer on Clear Coat?

Seems like multiple coats of poly is the most durable option, depending on the type of paint used. Let me know how it goes. I've got a Fender HM I'll be re-finishing this fall/winter.
