It started as an MTD Kingston Artist. From there I added an Nordstrand 5.2 and a USA Bartolini 3-band premp -- with a passive rolloff.
I had a clear pickguard made and then I put my Photoshop skills to work. The logo you see is actually on a piece of paper under the pickguard but it was a pretty good match for our Church logo. (I play in our church's music ministry --that would be my robe in the photo.)

My wife was nice enough to draw it up, and started coloring it in...until she caught the flu...or it caught her. No rush though...the pickguard just shipped out a couple of days ago.
The idea to include the Russian nesting dolls came to me because when I was younger I always played with the ones that my godmother had. I happened to mention this in conversation with my mother-in-law, who surprisingly bought me a very nice one that she ordered & purchased from a Russian community in the UK.
....and no...I don't have a lick of Russian in me.

Foil wrapping paper, graph paper, pictures my kids drew, etc. I finally settled on a silvery window tint film on the back-side of the pickguard. It looked awesome. Unfortunately I have no pics and I regrettably sold the bass several years ago.

| | | When Sterling Ball agree to make the Breast Cancer Awareness bass for me after my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, the main thing that was done to the bass was putting the pink ribbon on the pick guard. I think they airbrushed it on and then clear coated it.
Here is a picture of it.

Here is a picture of it. | Pretty cool Jay...I've seen your bass several times...and it's still nice looking...and very nice of the folks at EB to have done for you. I'm surprised they didn't make a clear pickguard and paint it on the actual bass...then protect it with a clear pg. Quote:

| I actually ordered the bass like this. I like the pearloid white pickguard and requested it like that but I also like your idea too. That also would have looked cool.
