Is this a Czech Spector?

And is $300US a good deal, considering the crack in the body?

Depends on if it is a true crack by definition, or if it is just a finish crack. It's a pretty vague description and the pics aren't the greatest.

Don't recall the Czech Spectors having the HZ's, or dot inlays, although I could be wrong. Cetera could tell you......

This is a not a Czech bass. It's a Korean Legend.

Actaully the first 3 or 4 years of Czech Spectors had dot inlays. But they also had SSD logos and said Stuart Spector Design on the truss cover.
Right they never had Hz's.

But all in all, I don't think the seller is claiming this is a Czech.

That's a Legend Custom. It's a little bit higher end than the Legend Classic.

Some actually have set necks that look like neck-through, but some are bolt on. The Custom has 3 band electronics and the gold hardware.

This one is Korean made due to age.
The newer ones are now made in Indonesia.

If the crack isn't in the wood, with that case $300 is not bad.

my euro spector had HZ in it! also an aguilar obp1...

i would suggest you request some bigger pictures and the inside of the electronicdepartment (where the serial number was stamped on the early models)

though i think its not a czech, because the headstock looks different. the "topedges" look too sharp. they are more on the round side.

also here an additional quote from PJRubal:
Quote:

1993 - early 1999
NS-4CR, NS-5CR model numbers
"SSD" Stuart Spector Design name and logo
dot fingerboard markers
most had EMG BT active tone controls
serial numbers are just 4 digits

mid 1999 'transition'
continue NS-4CR, NS-5CR model numbers
start original "SS" Spector name and logo
addition of mother of pearl crown inlays.
serial numbers are just 4 digits

2001
addition of Aguilar OBP-1 (at the end of the year)
serial numbers started over and have NB in front of
the 4 digits.
start model NAME Euro4

2001, or 2002...sometime earlier this decade
addition of shiny polished gold bridge, at that time
bridge material changed to zinc brass alloy, from solid brass.

2003
addition of Spector TonePump circuit

2004
start of Euro4LX model (alder back, walnut slice, maple top)

Which "Euro"?
The Rebops are Czech made and have Hz's.
No OBP-1's as far as I know though.

The Hz's may have been after market for whatever reason.

That blurb from PJ has turned out to be slightly incomplete.
Here's the updated version:
1993 - early 1999
NS-4CR, NS-5CR model numbers.
"SSD" Stuart Spector Design name and logo.
Dot fingerboard markers.
Most had EMG BT active tone controls.
Serial numbers are just 4 digits.

Mid 1999 'transition'.
Continued NS-4CR, NS-5CR model numbers.
Restart original "SS" Spector name and logo.
Addition of mother of pearl crown inlays and 35" scale on 5 strings.
Serial numbers are still 4 digits.

2001
Addition of the Aguilar OBP-1 circuit (at the end of the year).
Serial numbers are started over and have "NB" in front (NBxxxx).
Start model NAMES Euro4/5.
2001, or 2002...sometime early this decade.
Bridge changed to shiny polished gold.
At that time bridge material changed to zinc brass alloy, from solid brass.

2002
Beginning incorporation of the Spector TonePump circuit.

2004
Start of EuroLX models (alder back, walnut slice, maple top).
