I really dig the way the finish looks in this pic.
What makes it a "chick bass"? And what do you dislike about them?

My ex wife had the Daisyrock heartbreaker guitar. It had seymour duncan pups in it. freakin shredded and sounded great!

never played the basses. and that one she bought 10 years ago, so who knows if they're even making them like that anymore.

Have one of their "Flower" basses. It doesn't play that bad, needs strings and a good setup, maybe something to do while on vacation. What hurts it is the electronics, poor quality. But if I put in a decent "P" pickup and better pots, it probably wouldn't be that bad.

Also, this was one of their low end basses, I've heard the high end ones are much better.

That's it, on the left of my pic.

As others have said, if you are looking for a reasonably priced SS, the Squier Jaguar SS is hard to beat.

I don't have much experience with Daisy Rock, but if I were a girl I'd probably get a Luna Dragon Andromeda instead. Come to think of it, I may get one anyway.

The seller of that bass is active on another forum. He bought one for his daughter and liked it enough to buy one for himself.

I want one for sure, I love glitz! What's not to love? Short scale, glitter, matching headstock. It's easy enough to change out the electronics and get a decent sound. They seem to be a little high priced around here. I'll be patient until a good deal pops onto craigslist.
I have a couple of the Squier jags, they are great with new pickups.

Come on over and talk to the Mikro Club members at http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/official-mikro-bass-club-part-2-a-818439/.

I've played several, and with a little setup care, they're fine. No need to spend $1000 on a bass unless it feels/plays better to you.

I have no experience with Daisy Rock, but Vicki Peterson of the Bangles has a sig model guitar that she plays with The Bangles and it sounds decent.

As far as an instrument, I have actually played one used at the local Sam ash. Not a great instrument, not very toneful, awkward neck and shape (a flower), etc.

how does it feel?

someone mentioned specs on two basses and judged that therefore they'd probably have a similar feel. I was just at GC shopping for a hollowbody and tried out

epiphone viola
hofner icon

extremely similar basses, both short scale hollowbodies, but the epiphone felt super awkward to play and the hofner felt very comfortable. It wasn't just the action or different types of strings -- I can't define what was even different about them. Don't buy off the internet, try before you buy.

Another bass you might want to check out if you want small and light weight would be the Steinberger spirit line. I haven't played one, but they appear to be well like, decent instruments.

Those are horrible basses though IMO.

I'm a female bass player, and started out on an Ibanez SR300. The necks on the Ibanez guitars are very approachable. I have tiny hands...like I need to wear kids' gloves to get the fingers so they're not too long kind of tiny. I've since found that Rickenbacker necks are my true love. I find that the taper on the Ibanez neck can be tiring to play. I've found that I prefer a fairly straight neck. Don't shortchange yourself with pre-conceived notions of what you should play...

Another fan of the Jag SS. I'd look into that one if you can.

I'd recommend a Hofner Icon/Ignition. I'm actually thinking about getting one for my wife to start teaching her to play a little bass.

Some shapes, like the daisy shape, and some of the colors, for example the eye killer purple that SX had a few years ago. Also, I'm not really fond of the pink star on the current Daisy Rock bass.

However, the construction and playability of all the Daisy Rock basses are first rate.

Does that help?

Yeah! "Chick bass"? I'd play Mott The Hoople covers, and Ohio Players all over that thing!

Not really. I've own a lefty DR Heartbreaker Bass for about a year now, I love it, the Schecter connection is quite apparent, especially in the neck.

You know, now that I think about it, women seem to really love that bass, they always come up and chat with me about it after shows, a couple have even taken pics with it. Yes, I get lots more attention from women when playing that bass. THAT must be what you mean, it's a "Chick Magnet"!

I don't know about their basses, but I bought my daughter one of their electric guitars a couple of years ago. She is nine now(and tall for her age) and can play it well enough to play along with songs. It plays very well for the price and sounds decent enough.

I would consider getting one of their basses for my daughter...but I bought a black Ibanez Mikro bass from a music store when it was on sale really cheap. It's for all of my kids to share until one of them takes to it seriously. My daughter can play it a little, and likes it well enough that she wants the purple Mikro bass. When she gets a bit more serious, that's what I will buy. The Mikro is pretty good, just needs some minor hardware upgrades to make it good enough to gig with.
