I'm working on joining your club. Just having a little trouble finding one. You don't see a lot of them down here and when you do, they sell for a lot more than in the States. I've considered buying one in the past, but shipping is often almost as much as the bass. My wife is currently in Florida and I'm hoping to find one for her to bring back, but not having any success yet. She heads home Monday next week, so I really need to find one in the next couple of days. Ah, the frustration of the chase.

There seems to be a huge difference in the price they sell for too. Looking at closed auctions on eBay, I've seen the '90s Korean ones going for under $200, up to around $500. There's a shop in Texas with quite a few of them, but they're asking $700-900 each, which is crazy.

You could grab one of the new ones made in Korea for about 400.00 maybe a little less. Problem is most dealers don't stock them in their stores.

Yes, it's looking like that's going to be what I'll do. I'm waiting to hear back from a couple of dealers, to confirm that they have the Korean models. I hear too many variable reports about the Chinese ones to risk buying when I can't play it first.

Can I get a number?

Like Mongo2, I have a modded Dano; a DC-3 bass:

I also have a few vintage Silvertone basses... Love them.

Ok, so I've bought a new Korean Longhorn. Looking forward to joining the club. Been interested in Danelectros, since playing some originals and some Jerry Jones models in the late '80s or early '90s. I came close to buying one of the original Korean ones in the mid '90s and then some used ones since then. Anyway, I've finally done it. Can't wait for it to arrive.

I've had this a few years. Really love the weight. Also, I get an awesome tone using the LaBella Danelectro flats. (0.42 - 0.79) The strings are a little pricey, but made to fit the Danelectro tuners. Which work fine for little guitar tuners, just takes a little to get used to. I like to dig in, so I have to really work at it to ease off a bit. Love to join.

Sometime this year they re-introduced the Korean ones. They look almost identical to the Chinese ones, but have a gloss finish, like the old Korean models. I emailed a few shops to find ones that had new stock. They are only available in copper burst, like the Chinese ones, although it looks like the '90s version, which is no surprise I guess, assuming they're been made in the same factory as before. I paid $350 inc shipping in US.

Can I join too? I've got a Korean re-issue short scale longhorn from the 90s, in Aqua Burst. I love the woody tone and although I'd like to have better intonation I simply can't fault the thing for playability and weight. Love it!

Would love to get a number for my 56 re-issue.
Got it for cheeeeeaaaaaappppp at a music resale shop. Treated it to a setup, some flatwound Chromes, a new paintjob (in black galaxy sparkle) and new metal knobs.
It's one of my favorites - easy to play, fits in a guitar bag and it has that thumpy upright sound. My only gripe is the flimsy bridge, the design is alright, I just wish they made it out of something other than aluminum (I'll cut a new one out of steel plate when I get some free time).

My wife has my new Korean Longhorn now, so I'll get to play it when she returns next week.

If anyone's looking for a new one, these guys have them for a very good price. They were out of stock, but I just received an email from them to say they have more. http://www.themusiczoo.com/product/2...-Copper-Burst/

Slacken the strings and slightly move the wooden bridge in the direction that's needed . If the note is flat , extend it ... If it's sharp then slightly decrease it . The bridge will sit at a slight angle when you find the sweet spot . It takes a little finiggelling , but there is a spot where it will be on . Mine is true to the twenty fourth fret .

My wife has just returned home, so I'm now in possession of this.

Haven't plugged it in yet (other than to a tuner). It sounds as expected acoustically and feels good. Needs a little work on the setup. The nut is a little bit high and the intonation is right out, but that's easily fixed.

Nice!! That looks nicer than the chinese reissues! Keep us posted on how it sounds. I just found a blackburst Korean longhorn. It should be here no later than Monday. Can't wait!
