David King Bass Review

Greetings,
I have had a number of requests for sound clips from this bass, so I've written a review and made a number of samples of the bass' dry sound.

So here's a link to my blog entry for all who are interested in reading and hearing it.

Enjoy.

David King's basses look so wicked. My favorite design from his website is the A Bass. It is such a unique design.

There must be something in the water in Oregon... One state contains David King, Chris Benavente, Fred Bolton (Bee Basses), Dave Maize, among others.

Sort of beckons me when I think that Vancouver (Canada) is really not very far away from Oregon. If ever I dediced to buy one, I would drive to pick it up instead of having it shipped.

The water is pretty sweet, literally. Coming home from anywhere is a treat, just for the tap. That bass is beautiful, David let me borrow one of his B basses while I was working with him, that model is fantastic too. I'm pretty sure if I was to get another one from him it would be a B.

That looks awesome. I have a question. I noticed the controls are placed along the side of the body/upper horn. Do they tend to get in the way? Does your arm accidentally hit the knob(s)/switch(es)?

It took a little getting used to, but once I was comfortable with the position of the controls, I didn't have issues with accidental shifts.

What a great tone! I particularly love the piezo sound on this bass. I wish more people would provide quality reviews/audio demos such as this. Well done.

Hey bassicmelodies, some bass you just got yourself. It's really a work of art. Do you think you could possibly take some pictures of it? It's such a grand work of carving, it really deserves some close inspection. Would be greatly appreciated. Enjoy your bass!

Yup, Tuesday I'll have a friend of mine work with me on photos of the bass. Soon...

Thank you, sir. I've been a fan of David King for many years. He's an incredible craftsman and pioneer, really. Great shots, by the way. Enjoy playing her.

Kings

My basses aren't as pretty as the single-cut but damn they play and sound great.

David's work is stellar. I just met him last summer at a hand made musical instrument event at a local college. Really a great guy who does wonderfull work. I wish I could afford to have him build me a bass. I saw and played some of his basses all great. And if you want some custom wood knobs go to his site and see the beautyfull custom knobs in a kalideascope of woods and colors. Simply lovely! He will do pretty much anything you want.
