Dean acoustic EAB C5 upgrade

I recently picked up a Dean EAB C5. I decided to try it with Rocksmith since it would give me an excuse to play it. Well the output is so low that Rocksmith doesn't recognize it.

So my question is should I upgrade the pickup to something like the K&K pure sound with no preamp? It has a passive onboard preamp on it now. I thought about putting an active preamp on it, but the K&K looks like you would have to use an external preamp, then I would be left with a useless onboard preamp that does nothing.

The bass is just an in home toy, possibly haul it around when I don't wanna worry about my good basses getting damaged, like get togethers.
