Describe your bass tone!

How wold you describe your tone? and what are some of the key factors to get it?

I go first, I'll define my tone:
Very articulate and mostly scooped out of the midrange, with prominent lows and highs.
The low end is warm, deep and tight and the highs are very bright and zingy.
I think most of the tone comes from my stainless strings, solid state amp and active electronics.

Ok, now your turn guys

I work to sound like Bruce Thomas from those early Elvis Costello recordings: Accidents Will Happen, Lipstick Vogue, Pump It Up.

Just using MIA Precisions, a Hartke LH1000, LDS 2 x 10 cabs.

Not hard to get but, it's never tiresome and always seems to fit in with the music I am playing.

Heavy on the mids. If I'm on a P I'll play at the neck to accent the woodiness for that old Headhunters kind of sound (not that I can play anything like that) and expression. Used to play at the bridge all the time because I like that tone better but hard to be as expressive there. My recorded tones are all over from dark dark P to bright plucked lipstick to the classic jazz (and Jazz) sounds.

An iceberg. Cuts thru just enough so you know it's there, but underneath it will sink ships.

i have no one specific tone. it's pretty much an amalgam of all the players that have had an influence on me as a player.
