Dirty, dead ground wound thud preceded by the clack of strings hitting the fretboard thanks to my ham fisted right hand technique.

P-bass with flats and high action. Near-flat EQ with a small boost in the mids and low mids. Medium-hard plucking technique over the pickup or sometimes near the end of the fretboard. On the edge of overdrive. No other effects. I'll sometimes "hit" the strings harder to get a Geezer-like top end on some rocking tunes. Not too loud but loud enough to "coat" the music with creamy low end.

Boy, do I sound pretentious!

I'm a slapper and a funk machine. When I slap I like that piano sound from using steel roundwounds. I also have lots of growl when I slap because I play on my Geddy Lee Jazz Bass and my Brubaker Brutes. For fingerstyle, I turn the treble down, accentuate the mids and I have a permeating, punchy low mid highly syncopated and percolating style.

Primarily a finger-style player who favors the bridge pup. I prefer a mid / low mid dominant tone. I bump the highs just a touch and the lows a tad more.

However I may change up depending on the gig or song...
