Die import Cirrus, die

Hi there,

I recently acquired a used Peavey Cirrus BXP, and I must say it appears to be a great "bang for your buck" instrument.

However... I put fresh batteries in and they drained in about a month. I looked into it here, and it seems to be common with these instruments. No problem, I bought rechargeable 9 volts and a charger from ebay.

While I'm waiting for delivery of the rechargeable batteries, I picked up some Duracell 9 volts today. I popped them into the bass, and there appears to be a short in one of the battery connectors. Only when I physically squeeze the battery to the connector will I hear sound from the bass.

I'm wondering whether the preamp should be replaced, whether I should bring it to my local music store and wait two weeks for them to tell me I need a new pre, or is it a simple soldering/wiring issue? I'm not handy when it comes to active electronics, so I'm at a loss here.

Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have it checked out, maybe just a battery connector is needed, should be cheap

Could be as simple as needing to replace the battery clip. It sounds like thats the problem youve identified rather then the preamp.

It sounds like the battery connection to me.
The output jack on them isn't very good and can be troublesome too.

Both are cheap fixes.
