I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this bass?
I love the old EB2 style semi-hollows, and whilst I have a Gibson Midtown (which I love) it's very much a modern take (with a chambered body rather than traditional semi-hollowbody construction etc.
I could never stretch to actually buying an EB2 or EB2D, but this Dillion model has the same looks, and as far as I can tell is a true semi-hollowbody rather than chambered. But I don't know how it sounds. There is a humbucker right next to the neck, as per the old EB2, but what kind of tone does it put out?
Any info would be gratefully received!
Info from the Dillion homepage....
Thought a pic and info from the Dillion page might be helpful:
Google threw up one forum thread I'd somehow missed earlier which suggested the tone doesn't really match that of the EB2:
It would be great to hear from anyone here that has experience with these. Not a well-know brand I guess but here's hoping one or two people might have come across this bass...
Sorry if bumping is frowned on, but I have a possibility of getting one of these for around $700 which should include shipping to the UK plus taxes (still $100 below list price). Obviously trying one is out of the question as no-one over here carries them.
Been reading around a bit more about Dillion, and the fact that there are Canadian and US companies of that name that are now separate. This bass is from the US version.
Just really hoping someone has played one and can tell me what it was like, and ultimately whether it is worth it's price. I'd like something that is closer to the old Gibson semi-hollowbody's than my Midtown, even if not quite as 'muddy' as the EB2!
