I didn't realize that he also reps for Euphonic Audio and Liquid Metal Guitars. The upshot is that I'm in line to get another Super J built. After playing the new J/P fiver, I decided to liquidate more nice parallel fretted basses to fund a five-string J/J. Going rear-routed again with a two-tone 'burst over ash with matching head stock. The wait begins again.

Just placed my order for a Super P5!
I have a 5 month wait ahead of me - it's not arriving until March...
I'm assuming that my ABZ5 is likely going up for sale in the near future... |

I've seen your SuperP on the forums - and Wow! I'm also getting a standard, so I'm often looking at those pics as a representation of the bass model.
Thanks for the great photos and thanks for making my wait a little bit more difficult. |

the pic from Bass NW , she arrived last night and plays like a dream and sounds amazing . She is a very early 2001 AB-1 4 banger , clocks in at under 8 lbs. and is darn near minty . \m/ # please |

I'm assuming that my ABZ5 is likely going up for sale in the near future... | I assume it's due to demand, but the Super P's are taking a month longer compared to the J's, but it will most definitely be worth your wait. I enjoyed playing an AB-1 for five years before liquidating it to fund a J/P-five. I've found it to be a better 'fit' for me in more than one aspect. I prefer the shorter scales, 19mm string spacing, and the overall tonal pallette. Sheldon and one of his crew members who is 'precision obsessed' put a whole lot of work into developing and fine-tuning the four and five-string precision pickups. They are stellar. I pondered trying a Super P this go-around, but as I already have four and five-string J/P's that are so close sonically, decided to go J/J. My best advice - enjoy the ABZ and try not to even think about goings-on at the Dingwall shop. Sorry to bring it back to mind already, but what are the specifications?

Originally Posted by spiritbass Sorry to bring it back to mind already, but what are the specifications? | I feel a bit more agile on my standard scale basses, so the shorter Dingwall scale might be the best of both worlds. I also have some high expectations for the tones and the tone-fusion circuit.
I was hoping you would ask about the specs
- Super P5 Standard
- Chrome Blue (Upcharge for the chrome color) - I think I got lucky since it's not on the official list of colors. Dingwall was awesome at accommodating my request for the perfect color.
- W/B/W Pickguard
- Pau Ferro Fretboard
- Passive
I was on the fence for Maple vs. Pau Ferro board... both would look excellent, I'm hoping the Pau Ferro will bring a bit more warmth to the tone.
I finally defined some of my favorite bass characteristics:
Build Quality: Dingwall
Necks: Dingwall
Tone: Precision
Color: Lake Placid Blue (and similar)
And threw them all together into one expensive package - hoping that this might be a possibility for a "lone-bass" lifestyle.
Pictures should be up before the end of March |
