I forgot about those tuners. The shafts were hand-ground in-house. We had Hipshot make us custom shafts later on.

Here's an awesome interview with Sheldon Dingwall. Ivan Carranza did the interview.

Anyone notice the singlecut body in the pic? Cool interview.

Good eye! That's an intriguing body with the triple pickups sketched in pencil.

It's a great interview, on both sides, and the video is entertaining and creative.

that single-cut looked pretty raw, and as if there was a relief for a pending cut to make it a double-cut.

Should we start a betting pool?

It's got a lower bout that goes in the Prima direction....

I'm just throwing gas on the fire...

Nice Combustions. It's still the best bass I've played/owned yet. Haven't had a chance to play an ABII yet but they are definitely on my wish list.

Just saw your bass cam while playing "Make Total Destroy", and I've got to say: Those Dingwalls sound incredible, saving my pennies to get one!

I just bought a Super J 5 sight un-seen. Awaiting delivery. Have never played a Dingwall before so...I'm a little nervous. Does one join the club simply by posting pics?

No such thing as an invisible Dingwall - pics are mandatory.

Congratulations on your investment! What finish & fretboard did you opt for?

Thanks. It will have a Black body/White Guard/Maple top...i.e. "The Geedy" as some call it. I went the extra bread and had a hipshot installed on the B-string....so it will be a week + out (with the holiday) before it ships out.

This was a very sudden onset of G.A.S. I haven't been gigging/playing for probably 10 years. Kind of lost touch with playing the electrics for even longer.....say back in 99. Started playing upright in the mid 90's and the electrics sdtayed in their cases.

I figure the Ding should inspire me to get my electric chops back and get out and play. Life is too short.

Cheers! Yes, the ABIIs are quite something, I'm not sure how they'd work for the music I play but I'd love to give it a go someday!

Predicting the future is not one of my strengths but this is a no-brainer - I see (& hear) inspiration in your very near future!

Thanks Ken. It seems like a no brainier based on the reviews. Oddly, I couldn't have imagined buying a bass w/o playing /hearing....unless it was one that I knew well...like an old Fender Jazz...which was how I bought my....whatever year it is...75 or 76...I forget at the moment. :-). I probably wouldn't have purchased a different modern axe this way...let alone a 5-string (which I currently do not have). Add the fanned fret component and...it seems on the one hand a lotta limb to go out on. :-). This is all probably the tip of the iceberg with regards to G.A.S. attack. Carazy 8 (for the upright should be ready in early December. Likely to get some kind of effect pedal/s just to geek out with as well.
