| | | | After gasing over Dingwalls for a while I finally went to try an ABZ out today. It felt immediately at home in my hands, as comfortable as my Ibanez SR1400 , the first bass I've ever tried I could say that about. Spent a couple of minutes on it and decided to go ahead and take it home.
This thing plays amazingly well and the fanned frets really took no adjustment. Switching from a wenge to a maple board is more distracting than the frets. It's very light and did I say comfortable? Love the way it feels.
Sonically I'm still getting used to it, coming from an active bass. I'm not sure if I miss active electronics or not, there are a huge range of tones in this thing so I've got some experimenting to do. Overall this is an awesome bass. |

| | | | I was surprised how different it looked in person. It's almost green in the middle, the photos don't seem to pick it up. Spent a few hours playing and it seems using the pickups in parallel is the money for me. Nice and fat and the tone is mellowing out nicely as the strings break in. |

I'm still loving this bass and none of my mistakes at the gig where due to the 5 strings or the fanned frets, just the lack of sleep from the redeye flight home from Vegas I took the night previously.

I do worry about marking up the body more than I normally would, but I suppose if it ever gets bad I could just get it refinished in the gloss color of my choice, so I'm not too worried about it. |
