DIY Homemade Bass guitar stand

I just wanted to share with you guys a warwick thumb inspired guitar stand I just put together. I was able to get all the materials at home depot for about 20 dollars. If any of you are interested on building your own, these are the materials I picked up:
Wood (obviously) 2ft x 4ft - $12
Hinge - $2.50
Chain and hooks - $2.25
Small can of wood stain -$3.50

Please don't diss the carpentry work :0) I am a complete noob when it comes to wood work. Luckily all I needed was a jigsaw

Thanks man, it folds in half and easily transportable. The two halfs are joind by a hinge on top and the chain you see at the bottom prevents the stand from widening.

Thanks fellas, after looking at it a bit longer, I noticed to two legs are sticking too far out. I'm going to go ahead and trim 5" off each one

Necessity is the mother of invention. Great job on the stand, I like how it follows the contours of your bass.

Do you have anything on the "legs" to stop it from scratching your bass? If not, you could always get some foam insulation (the kind that is sticky on one side).

There are two rubber feet that you can't really see in the pictures that the bass sits on. I also lined the legs with the soft side of velcro.

Yeah! Good call. That was the main thing that made me a bit meh about the stand. Is the neck rest concave to help hold neck from sliding to the sides?

Hi.

Great work, thank's for sharing.

A few pointers from experience though.

It doesn't prevent the stand from closing though, something that will happen at one point. Been there, done that, nothing was damaged though.

Better to use a locking hinge intended for keeping the lids of trunks, cases, etc. open. Most hardware stores carry them, and shouldn't cost more than a few $.

HELL NO!!!

Not all plastics are compatible with eachother, using an incorrect combination will lead to very disapointing discoveries.

The velcro is safe IME, but I'd still be wary about the rubber.

Thats great...I usually like to keep a couple of guitars and a bass in my livingroom so I can noodle away while watching TV. I like that design as I could stack 2-3 guitars basses. All of my stuff is old an beat up, so I wouldn't worry about them touching.

Stand look really great.

I'm thinking if building my own stand. I don't know how long the bottom hat to b in order to support my bass from tipping over backwards. Can you help me out. I'd like the front of mine to be and inch or two shorter than yours, mbut the back to be equally as long if it works well for you. How long should I make the base?

Just curious, but what keeps the bass from sliding forward and flipping off the stand should something hit the headstock?

I was going to suggest trimming some off of the legs as they seemed a little long. Glad you already did it.

Looks good!
