Do I already have this?
I have a RIC 4003. I don't play it much as of late; it doesn't fit my current projects. I'm thinking of replacing it with a Singray. However, I have a Bongo 6 HH. I use it often. Is the sound basically the same? (When I use the bridge pickup?) The reason that I mentioned the RIC is that it is my four. I want a Ray 4. Maybe it's GAS.

Probably GAS. Nothing wrong with that unless you can't afford it!

It depends what you are willing to spend and if its worth it to you. If you like 4 string musicmans more I see 4 string bongos for well under a grand used all the time.

The bridge pickup in the Bongo HH is not in the same exact location relative to the bridge as the Stingray single H. The purists say that there is a difference in sound. Depending on the ray there is also a different pickup and obviously the pre-amp is different too.
I think you can get very close to the Ray sound with the Bongo but to be honest if I could afford a Stingray I would have one also...esp. the classic.
