I used to also put a hair elastic on each bass, so I could slide it up & use it anytime I needed it.
....BUT then I drill it full of holes, so it will be lighter and it will play much faster!!! | Im not sure if i want that to be true or not...

| | | | I try to keep them from getting banged up, but they are all banged up anyway except the new one (that's only ten years old)!
I recently stumbled upon a 1964 Jazz Bass beat to death with the dots drilled out and holes in the headstock where somebody once had rhinestones. It looks really bad, and still the price tag says $8900!!! |

I never understood why anyone would deface an instrument.

| | Nope! | | | | | I've always found stickers to be extremely tacky... but I will repaint the crap out of my gear as long as it looks okay. Have a t-bird with a now-lime green pickguard, and have a fEARless 1515/66/1 sitting next to me that went from black rat fur on the front to pale blue wood... gonna get a new grill for this bad boy, too.
The way I see it is, it's MY gear. Other people may have the same model, but they don't look like mine. The only person in the entire world who's bass/cab/whatever looks like this is me, and I could care less about resale. I'm the type to use something until it dies, or just deduct a bit due to customization if I DO decide to sell it one day. |
