Personally I like it better than any other Fender neck profile, Jazz necks are too skinny for me. | Thank you - even the folks at Fender Customer support couldn't clear that up for me. Still weird the official specs state a 1.5" nut width, though in reality that's clearly not the case. Love my Duff bass regardless!! |

| | | I know this thread hasn't been posted in for some time but I was wondering if any of you with the duff signature model would be willing to sell the neck plate off of it or could somehow get one through warranty and I'll buy it off you because I got an 80's jazz special and am upgrading/customizing it and would love to have the skull/crossbones neck plate from the duff model. You can either pm here or email me at jendellian_rock_soldier@yahoo.com if you can help in any way.
PEACE,

Right now this one is living across town at our jam room propped up in corner sleeping peacefully in its case.
Anyone want to compare serial numbers? Mine is 474.
So am I number 14? | They were made in 85, before that they were called PJ basses. Proof that they were around in 86 is easy because there are alot of videos of duff with one of these in 1986

| | | | I bought my all black Jazz Bass Special (new) in 1985. It has a J width nut/neck.
Some of the brochures from that time called them a PJ, and others (slightly later) called them Jazz Bass Special (also on headstock). |

| | | Hi guys!
I'm new overhere but also have a white JB Special from '86
We're now in 2012 and I think my baby needs a kind of upgrade... I bought a SD STK-J2B to put in the bridge as Duff use to do but I was wandering what I should buy to change the PB pickup. I know Duff did'nt changes his one but mine is letting me down from time to time...
Any suggestions?
Cheers. |

| | | Hi guys,
Anyone knows where to find a detailed picture of the decals Duff used to put on his basses???
I´m particullary interested in a picture (or the decal itself) of one that looks like a heart with a dagger going throug it...
He also had some pinup girl, a red skull or the "no fear" logo on his basses.
My Fender Duff signature bass is coming... arriving in 2 weeks!!!
See ya,
Fernando |

| | | | I bought an 85' (i think) Jazz bass special a couple of months ago, they're brilliant basses! Haven't tried out Duffs signature one yet. Anyone here played both? |

| | | | This is probably the only bass I really have gas for right now. No one stocks them which makes it hard to really know if I'd like it or not. I can always order and return one but its a hassle. The main question is though, is this a 1000.00 bass? I've seen original specials on ebay but buying a 25 year old bass is such a crapshoot. I'd be on it if its worth the price tag but at 1000 dollars there are an awful lot of incredibly nice basses to be had. Does this stack up value wise? |

| | | | Just got my new Duff signature bass.
Sounds very good, the action is low as I like and the neck is so great to play over.
Don't have any expirience with the original but this one is very nice. |

I also have my control plate signed by Duff at the winter 2012 NAMM show in LA.
Here she is:

Im leaning to either SPB2/SLB2 - Model P/J or EMGs. I have the EMGs in my other bass and it sounds good but I think I want something passive too.
