I left my 2001 rickenbacker at the gig - didn't realize it till the next day when I showed up to verify forthcoming dates. I walked into the club- looked at our gear (we always played 2 nights) and there was my bass on the stand. D. U. M. B.
another time I thought it would be a good idea to move the top strap button on my precision to the back - by the neck joint - the headstock dived like a japanese zero.

well this one time, i increased the value of my bass by adding a couple pennies to it

then another time i decided to attach a couple kids toys to a acoustic guitar and turned it into a bass thing

then there was this one show where my jazz bass kinda made me mad....so i smashed it

Man, thats some cool art and arnage pics right there.

Admittedly, I dont do too, too many stupid things, but I did take the decal of the Squire vintage J to " Azz Bass" and then to ZZ BASS as there are kids in the house. I liked AZZ BASS better though, as they are supposed to make UR AZZ move.

Dumbest thing I ever did to a bass was leave it in an unlocked car parked in front of a recording studio at 2:00AM for less than 5 minutes.

Obviously I no longer have that bass...

My first bass was a G&L back in the day. Got it the first yr they were available. Sb2 i think? Any way, after about 3 yrs of playing it i tore it apart and "sculptured" with sanders and rasps. Its sitting in pieces. All of its there but i don't know why i do those things.

Iv'e been reparing instruments for years and I am a perfectionist.
But just last week I messed up bad.
Long story short, I spilled a lot of crazy glue right on the front of my new antigua jazz. In a furious panic, I tried to wipe it off only to smear it making it all swirly with peices of paper towel dried and stuck to the front of my bass.
It looked so stupid and realy obvious even in perifery vision.
I fell apart and lost my mind like a five year old.

I was able to remove all traces of it using very small amounts of acetone on a q-tip. Luckily it didnt strip the finish off making it worse.

I was never very lucky, but this time I was.

I still have the original receipt, neck and oval tuners from that bass...As I said, this still haunts me to this day...Needless to say,I have never again defiled an instrument in such a way...Okay, Top that.
I can't top that but I disfigured & parted-out a Jazz Special fretless MIJ that my father bought for me before he died; disfigured a US Strat; parted out a Reggie Hamilton; trimmed a bridge on an Ergo EUB then traded it.
