e-bay listing, is it a fake??? Found this Geddy Lee Jazz Bass listed on e-bay as no reserve. Didn't think that it looked right. Seems that the "Made In Japan" and serial numbers aren't usually on stickers, they are stamped on the neck and listed as "Crafted In Japan" I reported it as a possible counterfeit. Was I right, or off the mark... http://www.ebay.com/itm/300862330168...84.m1438.l2649 |

Really though, I don't know. I'll be watching this thread! |
That's exactly how the MIJ serial number on my Japanese made Mustang looked. |
If you had used something called Google and did a little search before reporting the poor guy you would have found that Fender quickly enlisted a Japan maker to pump out Geddy and miller models for them to meet demand that had "T" serials on decals in 2010. |
why are you reporting this as counterfeit?.. I know for sure that I am not an expert on the Geddy Lee, however a simple google will show that "made in Japan" was also used in addtion to "crafted in Japan"..and from pictures there are necks that look identical to that in the listing. |
It's 100% real that was dumb to reported the guy. |

You are the one that needs a lesson on Japanese made Fenders. |
IIRC the early ones had the s/n in a different place than the later ones... my buddy's first run geddy plays way better than any of the newer ones I've picked up... |
I have seen dozens of these Geddy Lee's and never saw one marked made in japan or one with stickers for serial numbers. seems that this would be very easy to fake. If I was wrong, e-bay will not remove it, just looked unusual to me! I would rather have reported it and been wrong, than say nothing and let someone purchase something counterfeit. |
do your research before taking action. as far as letting someone else buy some thing counterfeit, dont be the hero. they should do their research before they buy and if they dont then shame on them. shame on the person who listed it too. bad mojo = bad mojo. |
There's already information readily available on eBay which you could have read before reporting. http://reviews.ebay.ca/quot-MADE-In-...00000002545481 |

two sec on googel less time it takes tor eported it to ebay http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BH5UoHuJtXo |
it "seemed unusual".. and yet 30 secs on google would have given you an answer, or you could have asked a question of the seller, but instead it seems you would rather let some seller have his listing cancelled and possibly his account suspended because YOU are not knowledgeable enough about the history of Japan sourced Geddy Lee?.. Wow......... Quote:

FWIW, my '09 Geddy Lee Jazz bass is "MIJ", they are made for the export market |
I got burned on here once for saying I didn't care what happens to the other guy so either way you lose up in here. |
Unclebass, That is some strange logic, I don't want to hassle you. You have to look into this before you said anything, would it have killed you to post your question here first! I hope you at lest tried to rescind your report! Shoot First ask questions latter! We know you meant well. |
