Ebay DIY bongo bass kit? $199?

I wonder has anyone even heard what this thing sounds like? Looks intriguing. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Electric-Bas...item257bcb8db3

Probably from the same Chinese counterfeit factory that sells online. If you want a Bongo save your money for a real one. I imagine this is a p.o.s.

All due respect, I don't think mm will have any answers for him as they have nothing to do with this kit.

Who knows, as a project it might be fun. As a bass, I suspect you could spend $199 better elsewhere.

There's plenty of kits like this on the internet... they're not meant to replace the real thing, they're just for fun, and plenty of people on here have had fun with them in the past.

Even better,
Go on the EBMM forum and ask them for some advice about it.
I'm sure they will be very helpful.....

I think real Bongo's are active. there's no preamp or battery box in the pic's.

Still could be fun though

It's a bass kit that obviously is supposed to look like a bongo but i woudnt call it fake. It's not as if they're advertising an unassembled and unfinished Musicman Bongo for 200 bucks.

It says nowhere (I only looked for 1 second) that it is a Bongo. It IS, more or less, a copy of an OLP copy of a Bongo. And way overpriced. You can buy better DIY bass kits for less.

And stop with the apostrophe abuse!

Man, I would love to get that Les Paul kit and put it together! But, to stay on topic, putting together an instrument can be rewarding and educational. Let's face it, a Precision or Jazz bass is not that complicated and being able to save a few dollars and have the final say in all of the finish details is a pretty cool deal. Same thing for the Bongoish (or is it Bongoesque, or Bogoescent?) kit. If you look on the gallery on the web-site, you can clearly see that one can end up with a truly heirloom quality instrument that could rival anything hanging on a hook at a big box music store.
