Electric acoustic problem

I have a Tacoma thunder chief bass that sounds great un plugged, but when I plug it to the amp, the middle strings (A & D) sounds double the loud that E and G... Any idea on what may be causing this problem? TIA

I recently worked on an Ibanez AEB10 with the same issue, and the trouble was in the piezo/bridge saddle area.
The piezo element wasn't laying flat in it's slot due to sloppy cleanup after the slot was milled, and the bottom of the bridge saddle wasn't all that flat either. These two parts need to be in close contact for the most accurate response and volume.

If this is your problem, it's an easy fix for any competent tech.

It's not at all uncommon for the string balance to be off on acoustic instruments. It just means that the bridge saddle is not pressing down evenly on the piezo pickup under all the strings. A decent guitar tech who's used to working on acoustic guitars will be able to adjust the bridge saddle for you.
