just checked out this place in Seattle for the first time and it was legendary. the people who work there are all so friendly...if only they worked at bass northwest! nearly everything in there was vintage or high end or both. it's mostly guitars, but they did have some great basses, including what appeared to be a 60s jazz in amazing condition priced at $20 grand
I didn't even ask to touch it! but I did play a 1974 mapleglo rickenbacker 4001 that impressed me quite a bit. it had without a doubt one of the very best feeling necks I've ever played. sound was awesome, the neck pickup was pretty dominant in the middle position. bridge was real thin on its own but that's a well known quirk and I could see it being useful for certain things. with everything up full it had a huge warm tone, and it was super responsive to how hard I played it. poor thing had a bunch of dead spots though, maybe because of its age.
anyway I had a great experience at this place and wanted to recommend it to any of you in the Seattle area who haven't been there yet.
